Orthopaedic vs Spring: Which Should Hotels & Hostels Actually Stock?
Both hold up to daily commercial use, but they feel completely different under a guest. Here's how to decide between them by property type.

Hotel and hostel procurement teams buying in bulk usually narrow their shortlist to two builds fast: Orthopaedic or Spring. Both are built for daily commercial turnover, but the feel — and the buyer they suit — is different.
Orthopaedic: firm, bonded, built for consistency
Our Orthopaedic range uses a firm to medium-firm bonded core with felt reinforcement for back support. It's engineered for uniform firmness across every piece in an order — which matters when you're furnishing dozens of identical rooms and want every guest to get the same experience. It's also our more budget-friendly option for large-scale procurement.
Spring: two different feels under one category
"Spring" isn't one product — it splits into two sub-types with very different behaviour:
- Bonnell Spring — interconnected coils, firmer and more budget-friendly, closer in price position to Orthopaedic.
- Pocket Spring — individually wrapped coils for motion isolation, a noticeably premium feel, and in our range a twelve-year warranty.
A decision framework by property type
| Property type | Recommended build |
|---|---|
| 5-star hotel, resort, guest-facing premium rooms | Pocket Spring |
| 3-star hotel | Pocket Spring for guest rooms, Bonnell or Orthopaedic for staff/budget wings |
| Budget hotel, guest house | Bonnell Spring or Orthopaedic |
| Hostel, PG, institutional supply | Orthopaedic |
The cost-vs-feel trade-off
If your priority is cost-per-piece at volume and uniform firm support, Orthopaedic and Bonnell Spring sit close together — the choice often comes down to whichever your guests are more used to. If the property competes on guest comfort and review scores, Pocket Spring's motion isolation is the more noticeable upgrade, and the warranty difference (twelve years vs the shorter terms on budget builds) reflects that.
Both ranges ship with GST-inclusive pricing and the standard 20-piece (6 x 6 ft) / 40-piece (3 x 6 ft) minimum, and models can be mixed in the same order — so a property with both a premium and a budget wing can order both builds on one purchase order.
